Our client is a large IDNO specialising in the adoption and connection of electrical networks up to 132kV for Independent Connection Providers (ICPs) and developers across Britain. Their extensive portfolio includes strategic logistics parks, data centers, energy storage facilities, and residential developments nationwide.
Role Overview
The Substation Plant and Site Inspector is responsible for ensuring that electricity assets to be owned and adopted by the IDNO are installed to specification and in accordance with statutory legislation.
This role involves conducting inspections, issuing reports, and collaborating with Independent Connection Providers (ICPs) to ensure compliance and timely resolution of issues. This position supports the business's commitment to maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with IDNO standards, policies, and procedures during inspections.
- Verify that ICP works align with construction packs and Lloyds NERS procedures.
- Confirm accreditation of operatives involved in contestable activities.
- Issue daily site inspection reports to the Asset Services Manager.
- Collaborate with ICPs for timely issue resolution and follow-up inspections.
- Conduct substation and link box inspections and complete necessary forms.
- Ensure ICP works adhere to safety rules and procedures.
- Verify risk assessments and statutory records during inspections.
- Schedule and perform site inspections during ICP construction activities.
- Support the Asset Services Manager in scheduling and monitoring inspections.
Requirements
- Qualifications:
- Essential: GCSEs (A-C) in Maths and English, relevant health and safety qualification (e.g., SHEA Power).
- Desirable: City and Guilds in electrical engineering, certifications in First Aid, CSCS, Manual Handling.
- Experience:
- Essential: Minimum 3 years in an electrical utility role, experience in utility infrastructure installation and management.
- Desirable: Previous DNO/IDNO authorization.
- Skills and Behaviors:
- Essential: Excellent organizational skills, customer relationship building, computer literacy (Microsoft Word and Excel), attention to detail, knowledge of CDM regulations, UKPD substation entry authorization.
