 Senior Design Engineer

 

The Company

Join a leading Independent Connection Provider (ICP) offering a comprehensive range of services, including private high voltage connections, maintenance, and multiple new connections across Electricity, Gas, Telecoms, Water, and EV Charging.

The Role

As a Senior Design Engineer, you will spearhead the technical output of our Design Engineers, overseeing complex projects while providing guidance and training. You'll play a pivotal role in maintaining industry standards, promoting value engineering, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality designs.  

Responsibilities

- Lead the production of compliant designs aligned with customer requirements and industry standards.

- Mentor and support junior team members, providing guidance in client interactions and design processes.

- Authorize project spends and design checks, ensuring adherence to DOAG limits and project financials.

- Promote value engineering initiatives and champion better ways of working within the team.

- Monitor and maintain design standards, evolving company policies in line with industry changes.

- Ensure all design work complies with NERS accreditations and is constructible for the Construction arm of the business.

- Proactively escalate issues to mitigate business risks.

Qualifications

Essential

- Proven experience in 11kV & LV design with a focus on quality and customer satisfaction.

- Expertise in earthing designs across multiple DNO regions.

- Track record of authorizing design checks across various DNO regions.

- Strong competency in the practical application of electrical installations and effective communication with stakeholders.

 

Desirable

- HND or degree in an electrical discipline.

- Incorporated Engineer professional status with the IET.

- Ability to identify and implement improvements in business processes.

- Familiarity with private electricity networks.

- Aptitude for coaching and developing junior engineers.

- Proficiency in multitasking and prioritizing complex workloads.

- Knowledge of multi-core scheduling and protection schemes for 33-11kV primary substations.
