Role Overview: The role of a Quantity Surveyor based in Sheffield aligns seamlessly with Our Client's vision. As a key member of the Commercial team, this position plays a pivotal role in delivering multidisciplinary projects within the Fibre/Optical Division, optimizing contract turnover, and ensuring profitability.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Delivery Manager in understanding/highlighting in more detail the financial performance of their projects.
- To identify opportunities to integrate software in some of the activities the client undertakes.
- The position will also entail implementing a system to oversee the workforce and manage the stock levels.
- Provide detailed financial information to the Project Finance team for budget amendments and production of month-end management reports.
- Providing feedback to the Finance, and Estimating teams where required.
- Regularly review project invoicing to ensure the timely issue of customer invoices.
- Provide feedback on project overspends associated with price variances from original estimates.
- Monitor project invoicing for timely customer billing.
- Perform regular Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR).
Requirements:
- Experience within the Utilities, Fibre or Optical sector.
- HNC in Quantity Surveying or equivalent discipline.
Minimum of 2 years’ Quantity Surveyor experience. - Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Experience in interpreting contracts/contractual terms.
- Good working knowledge of industry-standard forms of contracts.
- Excellent communication with the ability to build strong working relationships with internal/external stakeholders.
- Understand and seek to minimize waste in resources and processes.
- Value for money mentality.
- Take a balanced view on decisions made, considering long-term impact/consequences.
- Full driving licence.
- Highly competent in the suite of Microsoft Office (365, Excel, Word, SharePoint, PowerPoint, etc).
