The Company

The successful candidate will join a multi-utilities service provider who specialise in the provision of Power and Communications projects and frameworks.

Their extensive delivery service provides full turn-key solutions, varying from the design and planning, construction, commissioning and project management, extending through to contestable, civil engineering and highways works.

The Role

You will aid in the management of Health and Safety, as well as quality and environmental matters through the delivery of professional advice and solutions, with a requirement to ensure compliance with legislation.

You will maintain a safe working environment for both colleagues and clients by working presciently with all management levels.

The perfect candidate will also be responsible for verifying that the Company complies with current health and safety measures, implementing best practice.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • To assist in the planning of health and safety, environmental factors and quality programs, and initiate a suitable organisation to put them into effect
  • Ensure that the requirements under the company’s integrated management system are followed accordingly, confirming that your contracts are doing the same
  • Carryout frequent site audits (as well as compound and CDM), ensuring that CDM sites are compliant and relevant documentation is in place to the correct standard
  • Carryout company inductions for new starters, providing relevant paperwork, along with carrying out re-inductions for existing employees / contractors
  • Attend clients contracts meetings as and when required
  • Prepare pre-qualification questionnaires and documentation
  • Submit monthly KPIs on time and within the deadline
  • Establish the root causes of accidents, including the circumstances leading up to these, and provide appropriate measures to prevent re-occurance
  • Coordinate with the SHEQ Department in all matters regarding Health and Safety, maintaining a strong relationship with the SHEQ Director, reporting all issues / concerns here
  • Lead by example, wear the correct protective equipment for the site you are working on
  • Ensure strict adherence to the reporting and recording procedures for accidents as required under RIDDOR
  • Conduct disciplinary measures where any members of site supervisory staff fail to adhere to procedures and responsibilities
  • You will be required to work at any site in which the company operates within the United Kingdom

Experience / Qualifications

  • NCRQ level 6, NVQ level 5, NEBOSH diploma
  • Experience in a power or telecommunications utility project environment
  • NRSWA or Streetworks Qualification
  • EUSR or CSCS in general health and safety
  • Experience in being able to deliver training to various class sizes
