Quantity Surveyor:
Company Overview:
Our client is a prominent utilities contracting business, providing HV electrical services across the UK.
Renowned for their exceptional customer service, innovative delivery, and commitment to safety, the company is a tier 1 contractor to DNOs, with major framework contracts for the maintenance and development of their 11kV - 33kV networks.
Role:
The Quantity Surveyor will assist in the delivery of HV projects ranging from £650,000 to £2m, which includes PPM, asset replacement and complete new builds for high-profile clients like MoD, Vinci, and Skanska.
Reporting to the Senior Commercial Manager, the role requires regular site visits and coordination with the Senior Commercial Manager.
Responsibilities:
- Provide commercial advice to the Senior Commercial Manager
- Execution of measurement process for all measured terms contracts (MTS) ordered works
- Prepare sub-contract tender action
- Procure materials at best value to achieve value for money
- Utilize the Management Information System (MIS/Internal Software) to track works progress and report on any contract KPI’s
- Identify and manage risk management and mitigation
- Prepare contract final accounts to the Operational Teams
- Manage contract applications for payment by clients
- Financial support to the Financial Controller and preparation of monthly CVR’s (cost, value, reconciliation) as when required
- Conduct site inspections as per internal requirements (Minimum one per month)
- Communicate with clients to assist in the delivery of new and ongoing works
- Attend site visits to ensure client satisfaction and manage risks
- Coordinate with the Project Manager to assist with procurement and delivery of materials to site and office location
- Ensure cost accuracy of operations team against works budget
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management (desirable)
- Membership of (or working towards) a professional body incorporated by a Royal Charter (desirable)
- Experience of operating in a commercial, multi-divisional organisation
- Experience of working with Schedule of Rates contracts and other measurement techniques
- Experience of organisation development and change, including change project planning and management
- Proven account negotiation experience
- Knowledge of measured terms contracts (MTC) contracts and the property services agency (PSA) schedule of rates
- Detailed understanding of current LV/MV electrical installation & maintenance techniques.
