They’re a tier 1 contractor to DNOs across the UK and have major framework contracts in place for the maintenance and development of their 11kv - 33kv networks.

Role Description:

As an Overhead Lines Technician, you will be responsible for the construction and delivery of overhead line works up to 33kV. This will include a range of refurbishment, diversion, and new build projects, which will require you to replace conductors, wood poles, plant and equipment, transformers, cable terminations, switchgear, LV equipment, services, etc. You will work as part of a team and be given training to expand your competencies.

Responsibilities:

  • Work as part of a team to construct and deliver overhead line works, including refurbishment, diversion, and new build projects up to 33kV.
  • Safely replace conductors, wood poles, plant and equipment including transformers, cable terminations, switchgear, LV equipment, services, and more.
  • Follow the Company and statutory safety requirements, ensuring that all work is carried out in accordance with Company procedures and client/Company distribution safety rules.
  • Install overhead electricity networks to relevant construction standards, focusing on safety and quality.
  • Mentor and guide other team members, including Linesman and provide guidance on construction and safety issues.
  • Interact with the public professionally and courteously.
  • Attend training to expand your competencies and advance your career.
  • Hold necessary qualifications, including DNO authorisations, IPAF accreditation, NRSWA Operative, IOSH Working safely qualification, and City & Guilds 2339 (formally 2322).
  • Possess previous experience as a Linesman, working on shutdowns, connecting generators, polarity testing, and more.
  • Have a full UK Driving License, computer literate skills, and a risk-adverse attitude.
