The Company

This role is within a fast growing ICP company that has connections across the M25 area in London. You’ll have the opportunity to work on exciting multi-utility projects, mainly focusing in the electrical sector with projects up to 33KV. 

The Role

As the Head of Design, you’ll be responsible for overseeing all the designs within the electrical sector. You’ll help to manage and provide support to the design team as well as developing designs ready for implementation. 

Responsibilities/Requirements:

  • Proficiency on how Asset Value is requested and the factors that the Asset Value relies on; 
  • Sound understanding of all commercial aspects of an ICP Project, which should include Contracts, Costing Sheets, Civils cost, Asset Values quotations; 
  • Proficiency and good understanding of DNO & iDNO adoption of new HV & LV networks and where the adoption limits are set, based on commercial factors; 
  • Proficiency and good understanding of the necessary Switchgear needed on HV and LV schemes, based on DNO & iDNO adoption of apparatus & DNO G81 specifications; 
  • Proficiency on using AutoCAD software; 
  • Proficiency on using Windebut modelling Software; 
  • Proficiency on creating LV & HV designs (11kV) , including: 
    •  Substation civil design for GRP, Brick-built and Integral Substations (especially for DNO areas: WPD, UKPN, SSE,NPG) 
    • Substations Earthing Design for GRP, Brick-built and Integral Substation types (especially for DNO areas: WPD, UKPN, SSE,NPG) 
    • Substation Small Power & Lighting Design for GRP, Brick-built and Integral Substation types (for DNO areas: WPD, UKPN, SSE,NPG)
  • Proficiency and sound knowledge of Substation Earthing Systems (11kV) and calculation of additional earthing electrode; (mandatory for DNO areas: UKPN & WPD); 
  • Sound knowledge of commercial aspects & implications related to Point of Connections offers received from DNOs; 
  • Proficiency and sound understanding of all the documentation that needs preparing for Design Submission for Approval to DNOs and iDNOs 
  • Sound understanding of DNO G81s and iDNO Design Standards; 
  • Have an eye for detail; 
  • Manage juniors and team members.
