The Role

We’re seeking an experienced Civil Design Engineer to help design structural works for contestable connections between 11kV - 132kV for a broad range of end clients and industries. You’ll benefit from the support of an excellent team, an attentive line manager and a well distributed workload.

You’ll work closely with colleagues from the electrical design team, the protection and control engineers and external clients / landowners and see the project through from initial design to project completion giving full exposure to all parts of the process.

The position will report to the Senior Civil Design Engineer on specific projects. This will involve undertaking civil designs, and supporting the Design Department across some high-scale projects. 

Responsibilities:

• Prepare Civil Design Solutions;
• Interface with electrical design colleagues to agree best economic design solutions;
• Prepare all associated CAD drawings;
• Liaise with asset adoption authorities (typically DNOs) to agree civil design solution;
• Assist the electrical & civil design teams to prepare and submit contestable designs up to 132KV;
• Liaise with buyers and manufacturers to agree best procurement solutions;
• Assist field based staff with civil design construction matters;
• Assist sales team with tendering and concept designs. 

Experience

• Degree in civil engineering;
• Proficient in AutoCAD and Revit;
• Good understanding of industry standards and design specifications;
• Good understanding of Building regulations;
• Be able to interpret civil and structural engineering drawings.
