The Role

As a System Control Engineer, you’ll help to design and implement signal lists and databases to the electrical design team for their large scale projects. 

You’ll help the design team to design HV/LV designs, schedules and commissions as well as the control systems for these. 

Responsibilities

  • Clarify signal lists with internal departments and external suppliers and customers;
  • Create and administer centralised controls & protection signal databases;
  • Coordinate signal dispatches between different devices and across various locations;
  • Configure centralised communication Gateways (IPCOMM ipConf) and other protocol converters;
  • Be able to integrate systems with verification of proper communication between various components like signal checks;
  • Prepare HV/LV network designs and schedules from 11kV to 132kV in line with industry standards and completed within time and budget;
  • Provide technical support during commissioning and warranty phase;

Requirements

  • University degree in electrical engineering or automation technology equivalent;
  • 3 years + experience working with SCADA systems for control systems and energy transmission;
  • Experience working within IEC61850 standards for substation control as well as for data exchange with higher level automation & SCADA systems;
  • Knowledge of remote control interfaces, protocol converters and data concentrators;
  • Have a good understanding of SCADA systems as part of energy transmission systems (substations etc);
  • Have good knowledge of high voltage and substation technology as well as designs of interlocking systems and automated control sequences;
  • Good knowledge of secondary interfaces of high voltage components such as switching devices, transformers, CTs and VTs;
  • Experience with ICPs and DNOs;
  • Experience with AutoCAD.
