Description

Tier 1 contracting business which delivers expert cabling, substation and fibre network construction services to DNOs, IDNOs and fibre companies across the South East of England.

Established around 25 years ago, the team now consists of around 250 full time colleagues. They hugely value health & safety having been awarded RoSPA Gold each year for the past 5 years.

As a Civil Estimator with a very good understanding of DNO works in the public highways, you will be responsible for preparing tenders from received enquiries, preparing the bills of quantities from drawings and specifications as well as pricing and submission to the client.

Responsibilities

  • To review all bids in order to determine whether the enquiry is core business, within strategy, within risk profile, geographical preference and obtain agreement of bid.
  • Once the bid has been confirmed, working with the Bid Coordinator and to issue the supporting team a task matrix including individual roles within the bid process. You’ll then need to monitor this process to ensure all actions are completed within the time frame and to exemplary standards. 
  • Attending client pre and post tender meetings. 
  • Preparing cost models from the start to be used when estimating, budgeting and forecasting and keeping them up to date with current rates from labour, subcontract plant and material resources. 
  • Communicating with bid team members and delivery managers to determine outputs, programming, resourcing and approach to pricing of schemes. 
  • Preparing, negotiating and analysing costs for tenders and reviewing terms and conditions. 
  • Preparing subcontractor tender packages and evaluating their responses. 
  • Attending post tender reviews, BAFO meetings and bid presenting to clients. 
  • Tender handover to delivery team & QS as part of Project Pre-Start meeting, provide detailed build up to rates and pricing. 
  • Final bid review and sign off with directors. 

Requirements 

  • Good knowledge of utility contracting.
  • Competency with MS office. 
  • Degree, HNC or equivalent in estimating (desirable). 
  • 5+ years experience in a similar role.
