Company Overview

Our client is a leading independent utility infrastructure provider in the UK, specialising in the design, construction, and operation of multi-utility networks. They deliver essential services, including electricity, gas, water, wastewater, and fibre to residential and commercial developments nationwide.

Due to continued growth, they are now seeking a Project Engineer-SCADA to support the successful delivery of critical electricity infrastructure projects.

The Role

As a Project Engineer-SCADA, you will provide 33/11kV engineering expertise and support to the Project Managers, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of compliance and performance.

You will play a key role in maintaining and enhancing SCADA / Network Management Systems (NMS), while supporting operational teams with real-time network visibility and control.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain the stability, configuration, and performance of SCADA / NMS systems, resolving defects and issues promptly
  • Support control room operations by ensuring reliable real-time monitoring of the electricity network
  • Manage the installation, commissioning, and integration of telemetry systems (RTUs, PLCs, relays, automation devices)
  • Carry out I/O checks, firmware updates, FAT/SAT testing, and version control
  • Support the development of digital substation standards and protection/relay configurations
  • Contribute to cybersecurity initiatives, including NIST 2.0 readiness and system hardening
  • Develop and improve operational test plans across SCADA/NMS assets
  • Maintain and digitise network drawings and technical records
  • Provide clear monthly updates on system performance, risks, and improvements
  • Support innovation and operational efficiency initiatives across the business

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

  • HNC in Electrical Engineering (or working towards)
  • Experience within power distribution up to 33kV
  • SCADA / NMS systems knowledge and control systems experience
  • Commissioning and project delivery experience
  • Working towards IEng status

Desirable:

  • BSc / BEng in Electrical Engineering
  • EUSR (CSCS) Card
  • NEBOSH / IOSH certifications
  • Working towards or achieved CEng status
  • Experience delivering projects within primary substations and 33kV networks
