Our client is a well-established power infrastructure and utilities contractor delivering electrical network connections and high-voltage infrastructure projects across the UK. The business works closely with Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) and major commercial developers to safely connect new power networks to the grid.

They specialise in 11kV infrastructure, substations, EV charging networks, renewable energy projects and commercial power connections. With a strong pipeline of work across utilities, renewables and infrastructure, they are continuing to expand their operational engineering team.

About the Role

We are recruiting for a Network Operations Engineer to support the delivery and operational management of 11kV electrical connections to the DNO network.

This Network Operations Engineer role sits between engineering, site operations, and DNO network operators, ensuring new electrical infrastructure is safely installed, tested and switched onto the live network.

The successful Network Operations Engineer will play a key role managing switching operations, coordinating with DNOs, and ensuring all self-connect activities are delivered safely and in line with network rules.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate with Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) to connect new 11kV infrastructure to the grid
• Carry out or oversee HV switching operations, commissioning and electrical testing
• Manage self-connect projects in line with G81 and DNO operational procedures
• Support project teams delivering substations, HV cables and electrical infrastructure
• Ensure all work is compliant with electrical safety rules and operational procedures
• Support development and training of operational teams delivering network connections

What We Are Looking For

• Experience working as a Network Operations Engineer, HV Operations Engineer, or Senior Authorised Person (11kV)
• Strong background in HV switching, electrical commissioning and network connections
• Experience working with DNO connections, ICP or IDNO environments
• Solid understanding of 11kV distribution networks and operational procedures
• Experience supporting electrical infrastructure projects such as EV charging, substations, solar or commercial power connections
• Ability to coordinate with DNOs and manage operational electrical works safely

Requirements

• Senior Authorised Person (SAP) 11kV or Authorised Person electrical qualification
• Proven experience within power distribution, utilities or electrical infrastructure
• Experience in DNO switching operations and network commissioning
• Knowledge of G81 standards, ICP / IDNO connections and self-connect works
• Background in roles such as Network Operations Engineer, HV Commissioning Engineer, DNO Operations Engineer or Power Distribution Engineer
