The Role 

The company’s main focus is ensuring that their customers are pleased with the product and the way it’s been developed/designed with these customers in mind. This should be reflected throughout your role within the design team, ensuring that your designs clearly focus on the customers needs. 

Your work will help to support the Senior Design Engineer across the company’s projects, whilst still making sure that all designs apply to the company’s process and practices - making sure that the safety around this project is still an important factor within the design process through to completion. 

Responsibilities 

  • Supporting DNO/IDNO and key customer interfaces;
  • Ensure designs are completed within the company’s Health and Safety policies and procedures; 
  • Be creative in finding solutions to resource / reschedule problems to maintain the project delivery programme; 
  • Proactively escalate problems to the Senior Design Engineer and other managers to avoid Health & Safety risks, customer complaints and commercial exposure;
  • Work closely with Construction Engineers to ensure that project objectives are understood and met;
  • Identify and deliver process improvement solutions; 
  • Complete all work to high standards;
  • Liaise with colleagues across the organisation to ensure tasks are completed effectively;
  • Liaise with the public to ensure that work is handled smoothly, making sure that they are treated with respect and patience;

Requirements

  • Degree or equivalent qualification qualification in electrical or electronic engineering;
  • Have some experience or understanding of LV substations, generation schemes or other technical specifications; 
  • Organisational and time management skills;
  • Effective Project Management skills;
  • Be customer focused - you’re aware of what the customer needs;
  • Have a positive “can do” attitude towards tasks;
  • Have a practical and a problem solving approach to tasks;
  • Show initiative towards tasks and problems;
  • Great Teamwork skills - effectively working with others to deliver results
