Our client is a trusted family-run utility infrastructure business with over 30 years’ experience delivering turnkey water, gas, and power solutions across the South and Southeast. Partnering with major utility providers such as Affinity Water, Essex & Suffolk Water, and UK Power Networks, they specialise in repair & maintenance, smart meter installations, and bespoke civils projects.

Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Delivery Manager to oversee the end-to-end execution of our smart metering contract across Essex and Suffolk. You will lead field operations, drive performance, and ensure safe, high-quality, and compliant installations while maintaining excellent client relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day smart meter installations safely, on time, and within budget.
  • Lead, motivate, and develop a team of field engineers and supervisors.
  • Ensure SHEQ compliance and champion a proactive safety culture.
  • Act as primary client contact for delivery performance and stakeholder engagement.
  • Monitor KPIs, drive continuous improvement, and manage escalations.
  • Plan resources, scheduling, and logistics for maximum operational efficiency.
  • Conduct quality audits to ensure regulatory and installation standards are met.

     

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience in managing field operations or delivery in the utilities sector, ideally with a metering background.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage large, distributed teams.
  • Knowledge of metering regulations, health & safety, and industry standards.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and analytical skills.
  • Full UK driving license.
  • Relevant electrical/gas metering or project management qualifications are desirable.
     
  • Desirable Certifications:
    SMSTS / SSSTS, IOSH / NEBOSH, NSWRA Supervisor units, EUSR Water Hygiene.
