About the role:
The Electrical Design Engineer will be responsible for the design of 11kV-132kV electrical infrastructure supporting projects from initial concept through to construction while ensuring full compliance with all relevant standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Protection & Control Design – Prepare protection SLDs, scheme specifications, control schematics, coordination reports, and relay configuration files.
- HV Cable Design – Design and verify HV cable systems, including ampacity rating calculations and reports using manufacturer data and analysis software (e.g. Cymcap).
- System Studies – Carry out preliminary studies using DIgSILENT PowerFactory (load flow, fault level, protection coordination, harmonics, P28) and manage/review studies from external consultants.
- Earthing Design – Perform earthing designs using Excel and CDEGS; review consultant-prepared earthing designs.
- Detailed Design Packages – Produce cable schedules, schematics, block wiring diagrams, ADMD calculations, and battery charger sizing.
- Drawings & CAD Support – Prepare general arrangement drawings and support CAD and panel assembly teams.
- Health & Safety Compliance – Ensure all designs prioritise safety and comply with CDM and H&S regulations.
- Site & Client Engagement – Conduct site surveys, inspections, and factory acceptance tests (FATs), while liaising directly with clients and consultants throughout the project lifecycle.
What we are looking for:
- Proven experience in the design of substations and electrical infrastructure (11kV to 132kV).
- BEng in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
