Purpose of the Role:
You’ll lead a team of up to 6 Electrical Designers, overseeing the delivery of LV–33kV network designs for residential and commercial projects. This role combines technical leadership with hands-on design responsibility and stakeholder management, supporting the wider Group with expert advice on evolving network requirements, generation studies, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Line management and professional development of a team of Electrical Design Engineers
- Support team training plans and technical capability development
- Undertake LV to 33kV network demand calculations and reinforcement designs
- Deliver technical solutions for Point of Connection (PoC) and embedded generation requests (G98, G99)
- Contribute to design policies, processes, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, company standards, and health & safety regulations
- Build and maintain relationships with DNOs, IDNOs, ICPs, and internal stakeholders
- Assist the Design Manager in identifying competency gaps and developing tailored training programmes
- Promote the adoption of City & Guilds qualifications and engage with IET-led initiatives
Experience & Knowledge:
- Strong experience in LV/HV network design (up to 33kV)
- Understanding of DNO/IDNO/ICP design and operational practices
- Competent in network modelling, PoC analysis, generation integration studies, CDM Regulations, and ENA standards
- HNC in Electrical Engineering or higher qualification with the Engineering Discipline.
