Description

Our client, a respected name in the utilities and infrastructure sector, is looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Finance Assistant to join their growing finance team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys variety in their work and thrives in a collaborative and supportive environment.

What you will be doing:

  • Handling supplier invoices and matching them against purchase orders.
  • Supporting Project Managers by processing approved orders accurately and on time.
  • Assisting with the onboarding of new suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Performing supplier statement reconciliations to ensure accurate accounts.
  • Preparing and processing weekly supplier payments.
  • Providing cover for key finance functions, such as subcontractor invoicing and cash allocation, during absences.
  • Carrying out ad hoc analysis and general finance support as required by the Finance Manager or team.

What We're Looking For:

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English at grade 6–9.
  • Previous experience using computerised accounts systems (e.g. Sage 200).
  • Solid attention to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy.
  • Clear and professional communication skills – both written and verbal.
  • Good telephone manner and ability to work well with colleagues and suppliers.
  • Highly organised with the ability to juggle priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Confident user of Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Familiarity with contract costing or Sage Job Costing is an advantage.
