About the Role:

Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the Quantity Surveyor will take full ownership of the commercial delivery of multi-utility projects – ensuring they are delivered within budget, on time, and in accordance with contractual obligations. This is a key role focused on cost control, contract administration, and supporting the wider project and commercial team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and manage budgets, cost estimates, and project P&L reports (weekly/monthly)
  • Monitor project financials and ensure delivery to cost and schedule
  • Administer contracts and manage variations, including client negotiation and follow-up to payment
  • Work closely with project teams, engineers, and clients to ensure compliance with specifications, safety, and quality standards
  • Provide commercial input on pricing for non-standard works and support estimating/design teams
  • Conduct site visits to monitor progress and resolve commercial or financial issues
  • Analyse operational performance vs. margin expectations and address discrepancies
  • Offer commercial risk advice and ensure compliance with contract law and procurement processes

What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in utilities, construction, or infrastructure.
  • Strong commercial acumen and understanding of UK contract law and procurement processes.
  • Relevant degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or similar.
  • RICS/CIOB membership (desirable but not essential).
