They partner with major utility providers including Affinity Water, Essex & Suffolk Water, and UK Power Networks, delivering repair & maintenance, smart meter installations, and bespoke civils projects.

About the Role

This is a strategic and hands-on role, ideal for a Health & Safety professional looking to lead a department and influence best practice across our business.

You will be supported by a full-time SHEQ Advisor and an external consultant, reporting directly to the senior leadership team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the SHEQ department with support from internal staff and consultants
  • Review and implement SHEQ policies, RAMS, and internal systems
  • Lead accident/incident investigations and ensure root causes and corrective actions are identified
  • Support and deliver H&S training, inductions, and toolbox talks
  • Act as main point of contact for client safety and compliance matters
  • Ensure ISO and legal compliance across all operational sites
  • Attend operational sites and depots, providing practical and strategic support


We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Can work both independently and as part of a senior leadership team
  • Is commercially aware and solution focused
  • Takes a hands-on approach to embedding a positive H&S culture
  • Can juggle client-facing work, compliance management, and team development
     

Requirements

Minimum:

  • NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate / NVQ Level 3 OHAS
  • Proven HSE experience in utilities, construction or civils
  • Strong understanding of CDM regs, RIDDOR, Streetworks, and confined spaces
  • Confident IT user (MS Office and databases)
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable:

  • NEBOSH Diploma or NVQ Level 5/6
  • CMIOSH, GradIOSH or TechIOSH status
  • Lead Auditor for ISO 45001 / 9001 / 14001
  • AET / PTLLS or training delivery experience
